A Casual Affair

Forever does a moment last
As eternity dwells a fortnight,
Temporary a casual affair,

And dreaming being child's play,
For only a child can play
As children do.

Certainty is death & taxes
Until certainty, too, dies
At the hands of a tax collector,

And of what should perspective see
Besides the holes which gave existence its depth?
More to the point, how deep can depth go
Without digging a grave?

Alas, even these words cannot word
What a moment can speak,
For a moment's time is forever
And ours is a casual affair.
