Sitting in a pizza shop window seat
during a late autumn night
we discuss the existential purpose of things
and our pettiness
toward the superficial caricatures
of those we vaguely recall,
how we feel like a statue
of a calmly sitting Buddha
during a passing blizzard
of the uncertain
but remain steadfast
as we anticipate a future clarity
